The Church in the Wildwood
We meet Sunday mornings at 10:00 A.M.
Sunday School meets from the church at 10:30 after the message for the
children.
We have a Sunrise service for Easter and Candlelight Christmas Eve service.
We welcome new members!
Our worship centers on
God in Jesus Christ through the Bible with a current application based upon
God’s Word and the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion the
first Sunday of the month and Easter Sunday.
We sing contemporary and traditional Gospel songs and we have lively
summer hymn sings.
The Sacrament of Baptism
is offered to infants and those wanting to join the Church.
Baptism always occurs during Sunday public worship because we celebrate
the addition of a new disciple of Jesus.
We offer the rites of
confirmation, marriage, and thanksgiving for the dead.
The faith affirmation of
the United Church of Christ includes:
¨
That the
church may be one.
¨
In essentials
unity, in nonessentials diversity, in all things love.
¨
Testimonies
rather than tests of faith
¨
Continuing
revelation from God’s Holy Word.
¨
The priesthood
of all believers.
¨
Covenant
membership.
¨
Dialogue
within the church.
¨
The United
Church of Christ is Christian, Reformed, Congregational, and Evangelical.
Christian growth is for
all. Sunday School for the children
meets with the congregation for the first 15 minutes of worship and then in our
Haddam Neck Community School House. Lessons
are based upon the Bible readings used in worship.
Adult topics at various times have included the Sunday Bible readings and
the world’s great religions. We
invite youth at about the age of 12 to confirm their baptism as covenant members
of the church after a special course of study.
Church membership is for
baptized persons who say the church covenant in the presence of the congregation
during Sunday public worship. Our
Covenant is: We Covenant to Walk
Together in the Way of our Lord Jesus Christ.
